| | excited | ] | So folks, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but indeed I have just returned from my week-long trip to Boston and I LOVED it!!! Probably one of the biggest highlights....I SAW WHALES IN THE OCEAN!!!! And I think for those of you who know me extremely well that seeing whales swimming around naturally in the ocean, and HUMPBACK whales for that matter, this was a pretty huge event in my life. Number one and number two on my list of top things I would like to do before I die were to see whales swimming in the ocean and to swim with the dolphins so I was pretty excited needless to say. The only thing that could have made it better is if it were a nice day out on the water but it was extremely foggy and cold (about 50 degrees) and for awhile we were starting to think we wouldn't get to see whales at all...but we did! I'll post some of the pictures from the trip to Facebook or Myspace so keep an eye out for those. Also, on our trip back we had a layover in New York and there was this girl sitting next to me on the plane who was reading movie scripts and I figured maybe she worked for an agency & was a writer or producer, etc. However, I looked up the name of the agency she was affiliated with and it turns out she was an actress and if I watched even more TV than I already do or was a teeny-bopper I probably would have recognized her. It was Hilarie Burton from One Tree Hill (which I never got hooked on but figured I'd eventually give it a chance on dvd). Guess I should have asked for a picture or asked who she was but that may have been a bit insulting to her character. Haahaa. |

| | crushed | ] | Crushed.....simply crushed!!! How can they take the best program EVER off the air.....I knew it would end once the show's creators left but I was holding on to hope that it would go on...... Damn good thing the episodes are on DVD or I don't know what I'd do with myself. I know it's stupid to feel so passionate over a tv progam but....heehee. |

Second of all, I thought it was very ironic that today of all days on Gilmore Girls (One day after the anniversary of Tricia's passing) they FINALLY mention something about Luke's flannel. I seriously spit out my root beer. Lorelai: "I feel like I should do something nice for Luke in return." Sookie: "You could always put on a flannel shirt..." Lorelai: "Absolutely not." And THAT is why I love the show so much. |

So a few of you know I was having car troubles when I last went up to Michigan; it was making wonderful clunking noises when I was backing out of spots and stuff like that and it was due for an oil change by the time I got back home anyways so Dad took it in today while I was at work. Good thing I only have a five minute drive to the train station now and I'm not driving on the expressway a half hour each way to work anymore, cause um.....they said my front axles were about to break loose. Guess the ball bearings, etc. (aka the stuff that keeps the axles and wheels attached to your car) were all busted up and the grand total including the oil change? $1200-$1400. Yeah. Big huge suckage. And even though the car is almost 10 years old they said that this is the cheaper way to go vs. me getting a new car because my engine and everything else is still in good shape, unless I want to trade it in for a "pre-certified" vehicle which probably means another used Honda that they've rehabed or something. But anyways, I guess it was true when I kept saying "Boy, it sounds like my car's going to fall apart" because, well.....it was. So hopefully everything will get sorted out in time for me to make the trip up to East Lansing next month for Memorial Day weekend. |

I seriously hate the snow. I don't mind it when we get 1-2 inches and it's all light & fluffy...that's that pretty stuff. However, ALL FREAKIN' day long today I haven't been able to see out of a single window in the office or at home...cause it's just white. White white, and yes....more white. White that is blowing at 30-40 mph mind you. When I left the office around 5 & headed to the train station there was a car on the sidewalk three doors down from my building with it's nose touching a storefront window. Lovely. Then I get on the train, and oh how I love thee South Shore.....apparently some switches on the tracks were frozen solid so all 500 billion trains that are leaving at rush hour had to use ONE SINGLE SET OF TRACKS....so, there I sat on the train for an hour and a half, arriving home 2 hours later than I usually do. At this point I may as well have stayed on the damn train and taken it back downtown for tomorrow morning. And THEN I get to my car and it's buried...literally buried with snow and as most of you know I drive an SUV. The snow was nearly up to my hips and I had to floor it to get out of my parking space. And to top it all off, this morning's storm warning that was issued was supposed to expire at midnight so I thought to myself, "oh well at least it should be stopping soon." Then I check the updates and now they're saying this crap is supposed to last until 6pm tomorrow! Am I going to have to tunnel my way to work in the morning? Hmmmm....I guess we shall see. Grrr.... @*$*&! blizzards.... |

| | content | ] | I went to see The Good Shepherd today. It was decent. Not as bad as the critics made it out to be but I didn't think it was overwhelmingly good either. There was one extraordinarily good thing though...Matt Damon fully nude. Yum *drools*....of course I couldn't drool too much cause I was sitting between my parents. The second great part of the movie took place AFTER the movie in the car:
Mom: "I thought Hillary Swank did a lovely job in the movie." Me: "Um, mom, Hillary Swank wasn't in the movie." Mom: "Yes, she was, she was the deaf girl Matt Damon was in love with." Me: "Um, definately not." Mom: "Yes." Me: "Want to bet on your choice?" Mom: "Sure, I bet you 10 bucks that was Hillary Swank."
So needless to say I got home, showed her the cast listing on IMDB.com and I'm now $10 richer. |

| | ecstatic | ] | So my mom, my cousin and I took our annual trip downtown today to eat in the Walnut Room by the big tree at Marshall Field's aka Macy's, look at the windows and hit up all the after Christmas sale goods. I was on a mission to look for warm winter boots and a new warm winter coat. I didn't have any luck with the boots but I got this Calvin Klein coat at 50%. Originally $175 and it was only $80!!! And plus it's SUPER warm and cozy and I absolutely love it. The picture shows it in black or green, but in the store they had it in a very light pink which is what I got. Now I actually can't wait for it to get cold and snowy 'cause while I'm waiting for the train each morning I'll be warm and toasty!

| | enraged | ] | So today I went downtown with some friends for some Christmas shopping and German market browsing and as we're walking down Michigan Ave. one of the bums begging for money shouts out as I pass by, "Hey shortie, spare some change?"... I was SO close to switching over to my alter-ego midget ninja form. I mean, I don't mind it at all when a close friend of mine jokes around and says stuff like that, but when you're a bum scraping for change you have NO right to go judging people and calling them names. Dumb bum. |
